Build notes.
Hand sculpted.
I've had a website in one form or another for a long time. The implementation has changed, the design has changed, and I've rewritten parts of it more times than was probably necessary, but the basic idea has stayed much the same: somewhere I own, saying what I want to say at the time.
I like knowing how things work, I like creating things that work, so an off the shelf platform almost certainly wouldn't do or work how I wanted, it also wouldn't be anywhere near as much fun.
Design.
The aim is to keep things readable, quick and relatively quiet. As a person with aphasia I don't get too much benefit from it being pretty and there being graphics, I do appreciate other people do, and I do try, sometimes. Content comes first, decoration if I think it adds something or I'm feeling oddly inspired.
The small web.
I like personal websites, I like the small web. This site is my small contribution to keeping that version of the web around. No algorithm deciding what you should read next, no tracking, and no attempt to turn everything into engagement. Just some pages, some links, and whatever I felt like putting here.
Changes.
This site will probably never be finished; I'll change the design, rewrite bits of code, add things nobody asked for, remove things that seemed like a good idea at the time, that's part of the point.
